I am extremely excited to begin this new chapter with you and cannot wait to meet the entire Sandy Creek community. My passion for literacy and reading will serve our community well as we partner together to draw out intellectual curiosity within our students and allow them to cultivate their passions in a variety of arenas within our school and the surrounding community. ELA/Social Studies/ESOL/AP Coordinator

My name is David High. I bring a mix of experience from the classroom, athletic fields, and school programs. I’ve spent 14 years in high school education, teaching a variety of social studies courses, including gifted and advanced placement courses. Outside the classroom, I’ve enjoyed being part of student life—founding and coaching the GHSA Esports program, and coaching football, girls lacrosse, volleyball, and the academic team. I also ran the school’s Driver’s Education program, helping keep everything organized and running smoothly for families and students. Before I started teaching, I worked as a School Resource Officer with the Peachtree City Police Department, focusing on school safety and leading community programs like the Junior Police Academy. I also served in the U.S. Army as an Operations Sergeant in the 3rd U.S. Infantry “The Old Guard.” I am a graduate of McIntosh High School and have lived in Fayette County for the majority of my life. I earned both my bachelor’s degree in Political Science and my master’s in the Art of Teaching from the University of West Georgia. Across all these roles, I’ve learned the value of teamwork, staying calm under pressure, and building strong connections with students, families, and colleagues.

I’m excited to step into the role of Assistant Principal and Registrar at Sandy Creek High School and look forward to supporting the school community while continuing to grow as an educator and leader.

Dr. Triaka A. Larry, a native of Florida, is a proud graduate of Florida State University. She earned a Bachelor’s degree in Biological Science with a minor in Mathematics and a Master’s degree in Biology with a concentration in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology. She later attained both an Education Specialist degree and a Doctorate in Curriculum and Instruction with a focus on STEM Education. Her doctoral research examined the role of student self-efficacy and teacher-student interpersonal relationships as key factors influencing science achievement in diverse Title I high schools.

An International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma Programme graduate, Dr. Larry credits the rigor of the IB curriculum for her academic preparedness and collegiate success. She began her career in education as a high school science teacher before transitioning into school leadership as an International Baccalaureate Middle Years Programme (MYP) Coordinator. Over the past eight years, she has served in various leadership roles—including instructional coach, program coordinator, and high school assistant principal—in the metro Atlanta area.

Beyond her professional accomplishments, Dr. Larry takes pride in being a devoted mother to her middle school son. A resident of the South Fulton community for more than seventeen years, she enjoys traveling, playing disc golf, exploring new cuisines as a self-proclaimed foodie, attending her son’s basketball and soccer games, tackling home improvement projects, and occasionally indulging in her intermittent fascination with solving the Rubik’s Cube. She also values spending quality time with friends and family.
